Smart Cities for City Officials is an open-access online course provided by the Institute for Urban Research at Malmö University, as an outcome of the research project “Smart Cities for City Officials” funded by FORMAS (REF. 2017-01422). 

Smart Cities for City Officials features eight online modules designed for self-paced individual learning. Each module contains a video with an interview compilation of around 1 hour, also available in audio and written form. A written compendium with the videos content is also offered to be downloaded as a PDF file. 

Smart Cities for City Officials will also have two live events: An online workshop for city officials and a panel discussion in the international conference Beyond Smart Cities Today: Power, Justice, and Resistance

All the material is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Non-commercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License. CC BY-NC-ND license allows re-users to copy and distribute the material in any medium or format in un-adapted form only, for non-commercial purposes, and so long as credit is given to the creator.

The eight online modules of this program are open-access and free for anyone interested in the topic. Registration is needed to get access to the online modules. For participating in the Live Events, check the terms and conditions here.

There are no exams or assignments to complete the program. A certificate of attendance can be obtained upon participation in the online workshop and/or in the conference panel debate. The certificate of attendance will be issued by the Institute for Urban Research at Malmö University. Note: this is a non-credit certificate.

We collect data for measurements and managing purposes. The data we collect is: first and last name, email, occupancy, description of occupancy.

We may use the email address you provide to send you information, respond to inquiries and other requests or questions. Additionally, we will use your email to send information about the program content, live workshops, conferences, and additional relevant information. We will not send any email that is outside the program scope. 

The information collected will be stored on our website server and accessed only by selected institution staff members. No information will be shared with third parties. 

If you have an account and log in to this website, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen otpions cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed. 

We may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websited behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. 

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

We use visitor statistics on this website to better understand our visitors’ interests and improve the content of our site. No personal details about you are being stored in our databases, including your IP address, if you don’t register to the program. None of the information is being sent to a third party.

For users that register ion our website, we store the personal information they provide in their user profiles. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information. Users’ information will be saved as long as the program is running.

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any information you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
